







Eduard ThonyEduard Thony (Austrian-German 1866-1950) Austrian painter, draftsman and caricaturist; one of the most important staff members of the Munich satirical magazine Simplicissimus. Eduard Thöny was born in Brixen in South Tyrol and studied at the Art Academy in Munich. A professional draftsman and painter, he soon gained fame as caricaturist of the well-known magazine Simplicissimus, for which he would execute approximately 2,500 sheets. In 1904, Thöny and his friends Ludwig Thoma and Rudolf Wilke made a Mediterranean trip with stopovers in Marseille, Algiers, Naples and Rome. Works
