John Bachmann

John Bachmann (1845-1885)

Active from 1850 to 1877, John Bachman was a landscape draftsman and lithographer, and his town views are considered some of the finest of the 19th century. He is well known for his 1850 view of New York City, and in 1851, a birds-eye view of New Orleans. Shortly after he returned to the East Coast and was in Brooklyn (1858); and Hoboken, New Jersey (1859). He also did town views of Boston and Superior, Wisconsin.

He worked for several firms including Sarony & Major and Peter S. Duval.
