Van Day Truex

Van Day Truex (American 1904-1979)

A student at the Parsons School of Design and at Kansas Wesleyan University in Salina, Kansas, Van Day Truex later served as head of Parsons School of Design in Paris, France from 1930-1939. Van Truex returned to New York and headed Parsons as president from 1942-1953.

Another achievement was his having designed award-winning crystal for Baccarat.  In 1955 he was drafted by Tiffany & Company to oversee all design in their stores.  In 1967 he returned to his house in Provence France until he returned to New York the year he died.

Collections including his work in their permanent collections:  Metropolitan Museum of Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and the California Palace of the Legion of Honor.
